Salmon Fishing Gear

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Milos Pesic Getting ready for the big day? Are you so eager for the days catch? Who would, its the phase of the summer run and salmons are heading en masse towards that water basin a few miles away. You may make it through the day with a Chinook in tow or a couple of Cohos. That would be a pleasant way to end the day. But dont be so eager that you start your adventure with half the equipment you should use. Nothing sucks as having a short supply on roe, or having no spare lines in case your dry fly needs drying. Check this salmon fishing gear list and see whats to bring and whats not. Fishing Rods Its almost impossible to miss bringing your tackle. But if in case its true, then you really deserve a space with those fishes. In any case, rods require a bit of preplanning. Decide what salmon species you are going to take. If you are averse to taking those gargantuan Chinooks and seeks comfort on smaller trout, then you could go for light freshwater rods. If you wish to annoy those tackle breaker Chinooks, increase your chances with larger rods, such as Shakespeare Bigwater Powerod. Lighter rods dont mean light challenges however. In fact, fly fishing is the most challenging fishing method. For fly rods, I would suggest the Pflueger Trion Fly Rod. Made of graphite it is considerably light but sturdy. Aluminum coatings and hardware protect the metal workings and top grade cork grips would reduce the chances of the rod slipping off your fingers in case the fish decides to play rough. Reels There are reels that assist for mooching, and there are reels that aids in landing an insurgent salmon. Power assisted reels like the Dendoh Tanacom Bull will tow your catch to you or tow the angler to the fish. Its that strong. And it has several readouts that make this baby a capable reel. But sometimes what you need is delicate touch and deft control. Fly fishing requires that type of control. Then the Tica Fishmaster Reel, with its precision drag system should be the best reel for you. Fishing Lines Fishing lines are the ones that dictate a successful catch. Getting a stouter line isnt the wisest choice, the visibility of the line makes the salmon timid even to sniff at your bait. A line like Canjun Advantage Line is the best example of lines for higher play. When Cajun Red Line starts to sink three feet to the water, it becomes invisible. How about that for the most realistic jigging? The best part of fishing is that no one regulates your stuff. So try to bring the salmon fishing gear that meet certain demands. A strong rod, powered reel, sturdy line for the 50 pound game, a lightweight agile tackle for the smaller game or the higher play. Use the Rocket Ship Rule to Improve Your Marketing

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By Kevin Stirtz When a rocket launches it uses roughly 80% of its fuel just to take off (or so I’ve heard). Then, once it breaks free of the Earth’s gravitational field, it can cruise along just fine with minimal fuel consumption. There are two concepts at work here and, surprisingly enough, they apply to marketing as well as rocket ships. The first is inertia which says something not moving will tend to remain stationary until sufficient force is applied to move it. The second is momentum which tells us that something already moving will tend to keep moving unless sufficient force is applied to stop or change its motion. I’ve found it helpful to remember these concepts when I plan and implement new marketing. Starting a new marketing project is like launching a rocket. Any new marketing campaign needs more resources at the start than later on after it’s been running for awhile. The “gravity” you’re fighting is the lack of awareness of whatever you’re promoting. As the awareness of your product or service grows it reaches a critical mass where it spreads much faster with less effort than before. At that point your marketing has broken through the inertia and has developed its own momentum. Enough people have been exposed to your message often enough that they either remember it or recognize it (or both). And, the awareness often keeps growing on its own through word of mouth. When you reach this point you don’t need to spend as much time or money pushing your message to your market. It’s almost taken on a life of its own. But, when you start, you need to invest much more in building your critical mass of awareness. It takes a lot to get people to stop and pay attention to your message when they are bombarded daily with thousands of other messages. And, you need to expose them to your message multiple times before they begin to remember it. When you start promoting something and you don’t see results right away, it’s easy to consider changing direction or stopping altogether. What you don’t always see is that you’re fighting inertia so your return will not be as great or as obvious right away. But, before long (if you stick with it) you’ll break through the inertia and start reaping the reward of your marketing investment. Your awareness will reach critical mass and will have plenty of momentum to keep it moving with less effort (and less cost). So, as you plan and implement your marketing, remember the rocket ship. Plan to invest more at the start so you break through inertia. And, stick with your plans until you reach momentum. Then you can enjoy much greater returns from your marketing investment. —————————- More customers! More revenue! More profits! That’s what Kevin Stirtz helps companies create. Migrant Boost Fills Australian Skills Shortage

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By John Bell The ranks of Australia’s skilled workers have been boosted by almost 78,000 in the past year in an effort to solve the country’s skills shortage. It’s the largest intake of skilled migrants since the late 1980s.Australian Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone said the government had responded to the shortage by bringing record numbers of skilled migrants to the country. The Australian Government has made over 97,500 Skilled Visas available for 2005-06. In recent months over 150,000 jobs have been advertised weekly, and unemployment is at the lowest level in the last 10 years. Australian Government statistics confirm 89% of Skilled Independent Visa holders gain employment within the first six months. A total of 18,700 migrants took advantage of the state-specific and regional migration program, with 7,100 settling in Victoria and almost 5,000 calling South Australia home - an increase of almost 140 per cent in SA on 2003-04 figures. When it came to specific skills, the biggest increase came in the form of doctors, with 260 migrating to Australia in 2004-05 this is a 300% increase on previous year. A Senior Migration Agent from National Visas said that accountants, nurses and trades-people, including mechanics, electricians and builders, are among the most sought-after skills wanted by Australian employment groups. Pre-commitment and Cohabitation

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By David Steele Todays couples seem confused, and todays relationship professionals seem confused about todays couples. Let me explain this statement. In August, the National Marriage Project published their annual “The State of Our Unions: The Social Health of Marriage in America, 2005.” Below are a few of the findings: Between 1960 and 2004 the number of unmarried couples in America increased by nearly 1200 percent The marriage rate continues to decline The cohabitation rate continues to increase, with a higher failure rate than marriage The divorce rate continues to be around 50 percent, though has declined a bit, most likely due to fewer marriages and more cohabitation An increasing percentage of teenagers state that they want to get married and that having a good marriage and family is important to them This research is disturbing because the trend is against having successful relationships. Our problems are getting worse, not better. There is a widening gulf between: what people want (a successful committed relationship) what they do (cohabitate) and the results they get (relationship failure) The confusion of couples seems pretty clear. They want a committed relationship but fear failure, so they live together as a first step to minimize risk. However, living together actually increases risk because (in my opinion) they are acting committed without having made a real commitment. Current research seems to indicate pretty strongly that commitment is what makes long-term relationships succeed. OK, that seems pretty easy. Now for the challenging part. The Confused Professionals In my opinion, many relationship professionals seem confused about how to handle the growing number of not yet committed (pre-committed) couples that seek their help. Most seem to approach these couples the same as committed couples, as I did some years ago. But these couples are not the same as committed couples. They dont have the fact of commitment, and more importantly, they dont have the attitude of commitment. In my 20+ years of practice I have learned that when couples dont have an alignment of fact and attitude their prognosis is extremely poor. This year I conducted five one-day CEU workshops on Relationship Coaching for licensed mental health professionals. It was pretty cool to do these workshops live and in-person after so many years conducting trainings over the telephone. Participants of these workshops universally appreciated learning the distinction between committed and pre-committed (as distinct from pre-marital, which is a couple that have a committed mindset) and fact versus attitude. Once the differences were pointed out, they immediately got it and the challenges they have been experiencing with these couples started to make sense. What Are They Thinking? All over the U.S. and other parts of the world, singles become couples by dating and then moving in together as the next step in their relationship. What are they thinking? Lets see how this goes We should test this relationship before considering marriage Im (were) not ready for a committed relationship, so lets just live together The above attitudes reflect ignorance of how relationships really work, and are self-sabotaging if their goal is a successful life partnership. Three Levels of Consciousness In my way of thinking, we have three primary levels of consciousness: 1. Unconscious (awake but unaware) 2. Semi-conscious (aware of whats in front of you) 3. Conscious (aware of the big picture) The unconscious pre-committed couple moves in together thinking Lets see how this goes with the unexamined assumption that it is the logical next step. The semi-conscious pre-committed couple moves in together believing We should test this relationship before considering marriage. They really believe they are making a wise choice, but are misinformed and setting themselves up for failure. The conscious pre-committed couple is asking themselves Is this The One? Should I make a commitment to this relationship? They want to be successful and are not sure how, but at least theyre asking helpful questions rather than assuming they have the answers. The Round Peg and Square Hole Relationship Should we help all couples “make” their relationship work? If a pre-committed couple makes a less-than-conscious relationship choice and has an unsolvable problem related to an unmet requirement (e.g. one wants children and the other doesn’t), then in my opinion there is not enough of a fit for long-term success, no matter how much they “love” each other and are attached to the relationship working. Our job needs to be to help them explore the reality of “what is” and make a conscious choice in alignment with who they are and what they want for their life and relationship. Please note that I’m referring to pre-committed couples here. In my opinion, this is the time to evaluate your relationship choice. Once you’re committed, the task is to make the entire package work. I wish to clarify that I’m not “anti-cohabitation” or a zealot about marriage. I believe that in today’s world we have many choices available to us and we should follow our own path. My goal is to help people find fulfillment in their life and relationships and I’m very pragmatic about how. My motto is “functioning first;” good choices are the ones that work, and poor choices are the ones that don’t work. What Can We Do? As relationship professionals, what can we do to help pre-committed couples that seek our support when they are living together and experiencing problems? Here are some thoughts: 1. Ask the status of their relationship to assess fact and attitude. Dont just assume they are committed and help them make their relationship work. 2. Educate them about some of the research mentioned above and have a conversation about commitment vs. pre-commitment. 3. Educate them about requirements and solvable vs. unsolvable problems 4. Once informed and more conscious, ask them to clearly articulate their agenda and goals for working with you. Dont assume it is to make their relationship work. 5. Use a structured approach to help them explore their individual and shared vision, requirements, needs, and wants, and make a conscious long-term relationship choice in alignment with who they are and what they want. Its for this purpose that I designed our Partners in Life program for these couples and provide workbooks, manuals, and training on helping these couples in our Level One couples coaching training at Relationship Coaching Institute. Tips To Selecting Great Winter Wedding Invitations

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Shaunta Pleasant As winter time weddings become more and more popular, the desire and demand for the perfect winter wedding invitations is likely to only grow. It is important for those planning the perfect winter time weddings to start searching for the perfect winter wedding invitations as early as possible. The Number Of Guest In Attendance Is Vital After all, without the winter wedding invitations many other elements of the wedding will be difficult or even impossible to plan. The winter wedding invitations are the key to knowing how many of those invited will actually be able to attend the celebration. That information on the number of guests in attendance will be vital to many other aspects of wedding planning, from choosing the right size cake to renting an appropriately sized reception hall. Send The Invitations Out On Time Sending out the winter wedding invitations on time will also help to provide an accurate count of wedding guests to the caterer, certainly an important consideration, especially since many caterers charge per person. Shopping Early For Your Winter Wedding Invitations There are of course so many different kinds of winter wedding invitations that it can be difficult to choose just one design. That is another reason why it is so important to start shopping for the perfect winter wedding invitations as early as possible. Shopping early for those winter wedding invitations will also ensure that there is plenty of time for addressing and mailing those invites. Personalizing The Winter Wedding Invitations Many brides and grooms these days are choosing to personalize their winter wedding invitations in order to provide a more special memento of the big event. Adding a favorite line of poetry, a special line from a song or a favorite bible verse can make those winter wedding invitations that much more special, but it is important to allow extra time for this personalization. This extra time is also important if a special photograph or other touch will be included with the winter wedding invitations. Shaunta Pleasant is a professional writer and editor on wedding topics. A Few Points About Wren House Plans

Friday, September 21st, 2007

By Keith Londrie Today we are going to discuss Wren house plans. It seems that everyone loves song birds. Even the most notoriously disruptive minds in history, such as Ghengis Kahn, Adolf Hitler, and Idi Amin simply MUST have liked the sound of birds chirruping like little cherubs out on tree branches during the morning. One of the most cherished of song birds is the wren, and so the subject of our article here is about Wren house plans. If one wants to hear wrens singing away each morning, one can capture a few of these birds and subject them to a life of captivity and possible misery. A better option is to build a bird house specifically for these angelic-voiced creatures. To do this, one requires wren house plans.Wren house plans are the basic diagrams for building a bird house for one of humanity’s great sirens of song. These plans are quite specific to attracting this specific species (though admittedly, sometimes chickadees and other small birds will also pop in from time to time). The more the merrier! To get the most out of your bird house, you must get the wren house plans with the most goodies. Carefully select the option you feel will be best for your bird house. While many such plans are readily available online for little or no cost, some of the features can be added on. If this seems too difficult, there are wren house plans that can be purchased that are sure to accommodate the best features. These features include easy-access hinged doors, lightweight construction materials, decently-sized compartments, individual porches, and insulated attics. A little explanation of each of these is in order. First, having doors that are hinged will allow for easy access for purposes of inspecting nests for eggs or simple human curiosity/snooping. Lightweight materials are important in construction as they reduce the chances of a house falling off a pole in a storm or stiff breeze. Compartments of a relatively large size (usually about 6×6x12 inches is a good amount) will keep the occupants comfortable without allowing larger fowl in. Lastly, an insulated attic simply makes for greater warmth, and who doesn’t like to be warm, including wrens. The singing of Wrens is delightful to the ear and you will have much joy with your bird houses. Keith Londrie II has put up an informative web site that you should visit for more information. Dining Out with a Weight Loss Diet

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

By Alberto Martinez Miller When you are trying any type of weight loss diet, dining out, and grocery shopping can be dreaded tasks. Often times, depending on the weight loss diet you have chosen, restaurants do not carry many diet-friendly menu items. The grocery store, forgive me for saying this, can be pure hell for any person on a weight loss diet. Well with this article, you will find that neither has to be the nightmare we all know it can be. If you find the right weight loss diet you can eat out at your favorite restaurants confident that, you will stick to the diet and still experience weight loss. It is really very simple, if you know exactly what to do. You know those appetizers and bread that restaurants like to tempt us with? Avoid them! Do not eat them before you eat your meal. If they really look good, take them home with you and have them for snacks later. The entire key of weight loss diets is knowing what to eat, how much to eat, and when to quit. It is important that you avoid eating all you can at one meal. You should only eat until full. When I say full, I do not mean that stuffed feeling that you get after eating a big meal, where if you move you might simply fall over or vomit, whichever comes first. No, you should only eat until your body says ok that was good. Breaking up your meals into several mini-meals is a great weight to begin a weight loss diet. Eat until you are satisfied and save the rest for later. Some weight loss diets suggest that you literally eat six to eight small meals a day. What this does is allows your body enough time to convert the foods into energy and metabolism, which promotes weight loss. The more metabolism you experience, the greater the energy, the greater the activity, the greater the weight loss. It is better to take leftovers home with you from a restaurant, when on a weight loss diet, than it is to sit there and stuff yourself. The more you eat at a single sitting, the less likely you are to lose that weight you want to lose. You start a weight loss diet to free yourself from the monster of fat. It is important that you learn healthier eating habits and understand that while you need to watch the foods you eat, you do not have to starve yourself, but you also do not want to over-eat either. Only eat what you need, save the rest for later. Alberto Martinez Miller. Restoration of the Jewish People and The Rebuilding of the Jewish Temple

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

By Mike Bradley This is the event that has already occurred. In 70 AD, after Jesus death on the cross, the Jewish people were dispersed throughout the entire world. The Romans destroyed their one and only Temple and they were then scattered throughout the whole world as prophesied in the Old Testament as a result of their failure to get their act together with God the Father. God the Father pronounced this judgment on the Jewish people as you get near the end of the Old Testament. However, God then says after pronouncing this judgment on them - that He will still be their God, that He will still keep the pact and covenant that He had made with their earlier forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - and that He would bring them back to their homeland Israel at the end of time - shortly before Jesus would come back to our earth for His second coming. Here are 2 specific verses telling us this. “I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them: they shall make gardens and eat fruit from them. I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God. (Amos 9:14-15) “It shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left, from Assyria and Egypt, from Pathros and Cush … He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel andgather together the dispersed of Judahfrom the four corners of the earth.” (Isaiah 11:11-12) This major event occurred on 5/14/48. After the German holocaust, Jews from all over the world started coming back to their native homeland Israel and were able to re-establish it as their home state on the above date. Then on 6/7/67, they recaptured the city of Jerusalem in what was called the 6 Day War. However, they were not able to recover the Temple Mount which is where they want to rebuild their Holy Temple once again. Jesus uses the analogy of a fig tree when talking about this, and He says that the generation that sees this restoration take place with the Jewish people will not pass away until He comes back for the 2nd time. There thus is a very good chance that we may witness the return of Jesus to our earth for His second coming in our lifetime. I don’t know what the time frame is when Jesus uses the word generation. It could be 100 years or maybe a little less. If so, His second coming could occur anytime between now and the year 2048. The Rebuilding of the Jewish Temple The Jewish people were able to recover their homeland Israel and their main city Jerusalem, but they were not able to recover the Temple Mount, which is the ground they want to rebuild their Holy Temple on. Right now, there is a Muslim Mosque on that site called the Dome of the Rock. The Muslims obviously have no intentions anytime soon on removing their Mosque to allow the Jews to rebuild their Holy Temple. However, this Jewish Temple has to be rebuilt once again in order for all the prophecies in the Bible to be fulfilled. The Jewish people have already made plans as to how they will rebuild it should they ever get the chance. Apparently it will only take about 2 years to rebuild it again once God supernaturally clears the way for them to be able do it. The 1st Temple was built by King Solomon back in the Old Testament. It was then destroyed in 586 BC. The Temple was then rebuilt a second time around 26 BC and then once more destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD when the Jews were dispersed out of Rome and into all the other nations of the world. The Temple has to be rebuilt once again because there is an event involving the Antichrist called the “Abomination of Desolation.” Remember those 3 words!! When this event happens, we literally have a countdown of 42 months before Jesus comes back. What the Antichrist does on this event is to seat himself in the Temple of God proclaiming himself to be God, and from this point on, the second half of the tribulation takes place, which will have the greatest persecution of Jews and Christians the world has ever seen! The Antichrist cannot seat himself in this Temple unless it has already been rebuilt. The consensus is that in the first three and half years of the Tribulation, the Antichrist will establish some kind of peace treaty or covenant with Israel. He will allow the rebuilding of the Temple, and once that is completed, he will then break his pact with Israel and seat himself in the Temple proclaiming to be God. Remember, it will only take 2 years to rebuild the Temple, so this could easily happen in the first half of the 7 year Tribulation. I am sure this event will be televised throughout the whole world due to the conceit and arrogance of the Antichrist. He will want the whole world to know what he has just done. Think about this. The devil has always wanted to be like God, to have His throne for his own. Now he will get his one and only chance on earth to do this. The Antichrist will be under the guidance and influence of Satan. Satan, through the Antichrist, will now be able to seat himself in Gods Holy Temple for the next three and half years - and from that position, start the greatest mass slaughter of Jews and Christians that the world has ever seen. He will literally kill two thirds of the Jewish people. Believe it or not, this persecution will be worse than the German holocaust where 6 million Jews were killed. More on this in our next article. Bottom line - the Jewish Temple has to be rebuilt so the above event with the Antichrist can take place. It will also serve as a main key event for the rest of the world to key in on as it will literally tell us exactly how much time we will still have left before Jesus comes back for His second coming - 42 months!! This is the 3rd part of a 22 part series on the 2nd coming of Jesus. Article written by Michael Bradley of Bible Knowledge Ministries. Potato Chips - Just One More

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Terry Kaufman In the mid 1960s, there was a television commercial extolling the golden, crunchy goodness of potato chips. Its catch phrase was I bet you cant eat just one! Truer words were never spoken. A tiny nibble off the edge of a potato chip, no matter what your good intentions, led from the nibble to a normal size bite. Without thinking, you had eaten the entire chip in a blink of an eye. You thought to yourself, another chip cant hurt. Nor the next one, nor the one after that. What was happening?! Good heavens! Was the commercial right? Were you turning into a potato chip junkie? Lets shed some light on the origins of this crunchy treat. In the mid 1850s, frying potatoes was an accepted and popular form of American cooking. The normal manner of preparing fried potatoes was to slice them across the narrow axis and then fry them. They were not eaten with the fingers but rather, served with a fork, to be consumed in a genteel manner. Restaurants across the nation were serving fried potatoes, but it wasnt until the chef at Moon Lake Lodge in Saratoga Springs, New York, sliced the potato pieces so thin did they become the rage. It is generally thought by food historians that George Crum was the inventor of the potato chip. He was a colorful personality in the Saratoga Springs area. A former guide in the Adirondacks, he came from a racially mixed background; he was part Indian and part African-American. In 1853, George Crum was working as a cook at the Moon Lake Lodge resort. As mentioned earlier, fried potatoes were a popular fare. A demanding dinner guest, rumored to be Cornelius Vanderbilt, found his order of French fries (at that time, potatoes cut in a round shape) too thick for his liking and sent them back to the kitchen. Crum made a second batch, cut thinner than before and also fried, but these, too, were also rejected as being too thick. By this time, Crum was more than aggravated and in a fit of pique, took it upon himself to rile the guest by making him French fries that were much too thin and crisp to be skewered by a fork. His revenge backfired on him. The fussy diner was ecstatic about the paper-thin potatoes and other guests requested Crums potatoes for themselves. Crum originally called his snack Potato Crunches but the dish, now a house specialty, was listed on the menu as Saratoga Chips. Shortly thereafter, they were packaged and sold, at first locally, but rapidly grew in popularity throughout the New England area. In 1860, Crum opened up his own restaurant which featured his chips as the house specialty. He put baskets of the chips on each table and they became a vital drawing point to the success of his restaurant. Other than marketing the chips, Crum foolishly did not patent or otherwise protect his invention. Peeling and slicing potatoes manually was slow and tedious. The 1920s invention of the mechanical potato peeler caused the potato chip industry to skyrocket from being a small specialty item to a top-selling snack food. Potato chips were chiefly a Northern dinner dish for several decades after their invention. But, in the 1920s, merchandizing and distribution of the snack took a turn for the better; their popularity growing year by year throughout the entire 20th century. In the 1920s, Herman Lay, a traveling salesman working the Southern region of the country, was a major catalyst in popularizing the chips from Atlanta to Tennessee. He peddled Crums creation to Southern grocers straight out of the trunk of his car, his name and business eventually becoming synonymous with this crisp and salty treat. In 1932, he purchased a potato chip factory in Atlanta. 1938 marked the beginning of Lays Brand Potato Chips. The early part of the 20th century brought forth several companies building large factories for the mass production of potato chips. The 1920s gave birth of three companies which define the potato chip industry. Earl Wise, Sr., of the Wise Delicatessen Company in Berwick, Pennsylvania, had too many potatoes. In 1921, he used the extras to make potato chips and sold them in brown paper bags as Wise Potato Chips through the delicatessen. In 1921, Utz Quality Foods of Hanover, Pennsylvania was founded by Bill and Salie Utz. Salie made the chips which were marketed and sold by her husband Bill, and were called Hanover Home Brand Potato Chips. Salie was able to turn out about 50 pounds of potato chips per hour, using hand-operated equipment, in a small summer house behind their home. 1926 was noteworthy for potato chip distribution. Until then, potato chips were kept in bulk in cracker barrels or glass display cases. Retailers dispensed the chips in paper bags. Paper was not very practical, as oil from the chips could seep through the sacks and onto the consumers hands. Laura Scudder had a family chip business in Monterey Park, California. She understood the inherent flaw in the paper sacks; no one enjoyed being covered with cooking oil. Her inspired solution to this problem was brilliant. When her women employees went home at night, carrying sheets of waxed paper, they hand-ironed them into bags (the original Baggie?). The following day, the employees hand-filled chips into the waxed paper bags and then sealed them with a warm iron. Voila! Greaseproof bags, ready to be delivered to retailers. Potato chips are now the favorite snack of Americans, who eat more potato chips than any other population in the world. Some interesting side notes: In colonial times, New Englanders considered potatoes to be ideal as pig fodder. They believed that eating these tubers shortened a persons life expectancy. The New Englanders were not concerned that potatoes were fried in fat and covered with salt (every cardiologists bane); they had much more worry about pleasures of the flesh. They believed the potato, in its pristine state, contained an aphrodisiac which led to actions and behavior felt to be detrimental to long life; according to these souls, eating an unadulterated potato led to the demon SEX and of course, sex led to the downfall of man. For more than over a century, we have known this to be not true and just the result of misdirected thinking. Mass potato chip production, in modern facilities, uses continuous fryers or flash frying. Shockingly, some potato chips are made from reconstituted potato flakes (yuck!) in place of raw potato slices. I bet you cant eat just one… Terry Kaufman is Chief Editorial Writer for Niftykitchen.com, Niftyhomebar.com, and Niftygarden.com. 2007 Terry Kaufman.
