Your image, both what you perceive it is and what other people perceive it is determines many first impressions and always determines a certain course of action. Just like most people are concerned about food stuck in their teeth or if their hair is in the right place, is it equally, if not more important, to make sure that your body is in its most pleasing state. For those of you that disagree, there is about to be a rude awakening You see, I performed a little mini study a few months ago just for fun. I asked 20 different guys from all walks of life this question: Would you rather be around someone with an gorgeous face and an okay body or someone with an okay face and a pleasing body? The results: Sixteen out of twenty men preferred the woman with the okay face and the pleasing body. Now, we can probably venture a guess and say that these men were acting on a primal instinct and youd be right. (As an aside, that means that the playing field is actually pretty level for everyone in the dating game) But, if youre looking for an edge in any situation (dating, business, etc), wouldnt you want to tap into this phenomenon. Life is all about influence and power. Getting in better shape not only shows other people that you have drive and dedication but it also raises your confidence levels as well. And, of course, when confidence levels rise so does your power. Having power and influence is a beautiful thing. So is self control. Have you ever heard the saying that if you arent feeling well today, you should dress up more than normal. The reason: you dont wear certain clothes for the effect they have on other people. No, you wear them for the effect that they have ON YOU. The same is true for improving your body. Yes, it will improve how people look at you and judge you on first impressions. And yes, your friends will idolize you because you are taking the steps to improve your life. However, the true value in changing your body comes with the effects that it has on you. When you look better, you feel better. When you feel better, you exude more confidence and control. When you have more confidence and control, you have more influence. With more influence you have power. With power the possibilities are endless. In saying this, I am often confronted with comments like: Well, it shouldnt be like that. People should like me for who I am And, I always reply with something like: You know, everyone plays this game called life by the same rules. Sure, most people might have a little bit stronger of a hand dealt to them but, just like in poker, I have seen weak hands win and strong hands fold just from the power of influence and suggestion So, I pose this question to you. If everyone is playing by the same rules and you can win the game regardless of the hand youve been initially dealt, wouldnt it make sense to take advantage of the different ways to improve your odds? In just like any other game (like basketball or baseball), you dont sit back and complain about the rules and hope that someone comes along and changes them. No, you learn all of the rules, you practice, you get better, and you always strive to improve. You dont play not to lose: You play to win! And, in this game of life, bettering yourself includes getting in better shape. Power up your life, dont take mediocrity as an option, and change your body. Through these victories your confidence levels will rise and life will take a turn for the better: guaranteed.
